What is outdoor therapy?
Outdoor therapy, sometimes termed adventure therapy, is a unique approach that focuses on facilitating intentional, experiential-based activities to help meet your therapeutic goals. A highly trained therapist will work with you throughout an activity and use therapy models including narrative therapy and solution-focused therapy. Outdoor therapy is best suited for individuals who value a "hands-on" approach.
What does outdoor therapy look like for me?
Our outdoor therapy services are individualized to suit your needs. Outdoor therapy activities can include:
Office Based Sessions
Our office is conveniently located on the Seine River Parkway near many walking trails for “walk and talk” sessions, reflections on nature, and mindfulness in natural environments. In this setting a combination of outdoor sessions and in-office sessions is often used.
Experiential activities (e.g. games, art) in the park or office.
Discussions around your relationship to nature and the environment.
We can facilitate outdoor structured play sessions for families seeking to build bonding, connections, communication, and attachment using nearby play structures.
